Telluride Town Park
Telluride Town Park is located at 500 East Colorado Avenue towards the east end of downtown Telluride. The park provides the community with a central hub that offers many activities for town residents and Telluride visitors. Throughout the summer, it is home to many festivals and a daily destination for kids of all ages. The park features a vast array of facilities that include a community swimming pool, playgrounds for toddlers and older kids, tennis and basketball courts, ice-skating and a campground.
Town Park Facilities:
Community Swimming Pool: Outdoor, heated seasonal swimming pool. The pool will open around the first week of June and closes around the last week of August. Offering swimming lessons for kids of all ages. Daily passes and seasonal membership are available. For more information please click here.
Telluride Recreation Fields: The balls fields are utilized for adult and youth programs alike. Adult softball offers the different slow pitch leagues, one competitive for males and the other two recreational, one for women and the other for men. Youth baseball activities include 9-12 year old boys baseball, boys and girls machine pitch and boys and girls tee ball. The Bear Creek field allows for soccer for all ages. Youth soccer is offered for preschoolers, kindergartener, micro (1st-2nd graders), and junior (3rd - 4th graders) boys soccer and junior girls soccer. There is also a Coed Adult soccer league which is comprised of various teams which compete in the friendly, recreational program.
Kid's Fishing Pond: Whether you're looking for a place to teach you kids how to fish or just interested in taking your kids to the pond to feed the ducks, this pond is a great attraction for kids 12 years of age and under. There is a four trout limit and fishing rods can be checked out at the Town Park Information Center for free.
Toddler Playground: Located right across from the Kid's fishing pond and features miniaturized slides and playhouse suitable for smaller kids. Also featuring a climbing element designed for kids ages 5 and up.
Imagination Station: imagination station is the main playground at Town Park and features swings, slides, climbing, monkey bars and a balancing bar. The playground is open to the public all year long, however, winter accessibility can be limited depending on the amount of snow on the ground.
Horse Shoes: Pits are located near the swimming pool, there are two pits and using them is free. No reservation required: First come, first serve.
Tennis Courts: The park features two tennis courts located near the swimming pool. Courts are free and available on first come, first serve basis.
Basketball Courts: Two outdoor courts are located in the center of the park. Basketballs can be checkout at the Parks and Recreation office.
Sand Volleyball: Two courts are located near tennis courts and Imagination Station.
Skate Park: Open year around and is located near the basketball courts.
Sledding: The sledding hill is located on the Firecracker hill located on the southern end of town. The hill is open to the public all winter long, nevertheless, there is a winter safety curfew currently set to 9 pm. Sleds are not provided by the park and you must bring you own. Sleds can be purchased at a reasonable price from Ace Hardware located few blocks west of Town Park on Colorado Ave. Sled rentals are also available at the Nordic Center at Town Park.
